Fundraising for the Manhattan Alliance for Peace and Justice’s 2017 program year has begun and is going fair. This is a reminder to past and new supporters that their donations are needed and to please send in their donation now.
As with all progressive organizations across the nation, MAPJ is facing a year in which an all out attack on the social safety net and our civil rights will be waged. Having your donations early will make it easier for us to plan, network and react to what happens at the local, state and national level.
We started out the year with a strong effort to support The Kansas People’s Agenda action. You should have received a postcard with information about the rally on Wednesday January 11 at the Capitol Building in Topeka. MAPJ has hired a bus to facilitate transportation to this event.
Increasing our collaborating with groups across the state will be a priority and the way to be more effective.
We are working on speakers for Spring and Fall. We welcome your ideas for speakers. You can e-mail them to any of the Board members listed on the last page.
You are also invited to attend any Board meetings and take part in our decision-making discussions. Meetings are usually the third Thursday of each month, 7 pm at the Mennonite Church, Fremont & 10th.
