It’s that time of year when MAPJ’s members gather for our annual meeting and reflect on what has transpired during the year that has passed. And we have much to reflect on this year!
“…I’m about convinced now that there is need for a new organization in our world. The International Association for the Advancement of Creative Maladjustment–men and women who will be as maladjusted as the prophet Amos. Who in the midst of the injustices of his day could cry out in words that echo across the centuries, ‘Let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.’” – Martin Luther King, Jr., December 18, 1963.
Inspiring us to look to the future will be Junction City native and professor of film at the University of Kansas, Kevin Willmott who will speak about Dr. King’s call for us to be Creatively Maladjusted in relationship to his films and responding to the new threat of the Trump administration.
Willmott’s award-winning films include: Confederate States of America, The Battle for Bunker Hill, and The Only Good Indian.
